| [ Summary ] |
In Japan, 96.9 % of treatment for end-stage renal disease has shifted to in-center hemodialysis (HD). However, when we consider "diversity of treatment," there is also potential demand for home dialysis, which may enhance patient survival and social rehabilitation. Since the technology related to HD has reached a plateau, and it is difficult to obtain dialysis adequacy with only 3 HD sessions per week, home hemodialysis (HHD) is a promising candidate for better RRT, in addition to being cost-effective. In our institute, we have tried to increase the number of HHD patients since 2006, but the total number remained at 1-2 cases until 2014. We then developed a strategy in which the staff directly report existing problems and solutions to the manager of the facility, with the aim of promoting HHD participation by all staff members assigned by the manager. As a result, we expect to recruit 10 HHD patients by the end of 2016. |
