[ Summary ] |
According to the annual report entitled, "An Overview of Regular Dialysis Treatment in Japan," in 2014, 320,448 patients received dialysis in 4,330 facilities in Japan, under the circumstance of shortage of medical staff, including physicians. In order to provide safe dialysis treatment for patients, a uniform policy should be established across all facilities for quality control of medical service (standard operating procedures, safety management, education, information sharing, etc.). International standards such as those established by the International Organization for Standardization and Joint Commission International can be used as tools to improve medical safety through the process of verification and validation of the policy for dialysis service in each facility. |
