【 要旨 】 医療にとって，安全と質は最優先事項である．透析医療は複雑で侵襲的な治療であり，患者自身も多くの合併症をもつハイリスク患者なので医療事故が発生する危険は高い．JCI基準の最重要事項である「国際患者安全目標（International Patient Safety Goals；IPSG）」は世界中の透析室に当てはまる．透析施設には患者安全に関する方針・手順を定め，安全文化を高めることが求められる．

[ Summary ] Safety and quality of care are the central priorities of health care. Dialysis treatment is a complex and invasive procedure, and the target population is vulnerable because of its multiple risk factors for medical errors and adverse events. The International Patient Safety Goals set by Joint Commission International apply to every dialysis facility worldwide. Dialysis facilities are responsible for developing and implementing policies and procedures for dialysis safety and for fostering a culture of safety.
