[ Summary ] |
Social support, or community resources, for patients with impaired cognitive function (PICF) primarily consist of two major components;the informal resources and the formal resources. The difference between these resources are due to the former providing greater flexibility, lower treatment specialty and lower availability, while the latter provides greater availability but is more uniform. Generally, informal resources are suitable for the management of PICF. It is important to assess and coordinate the characteristics of these resources, and the care-managers using regional public services. One of the problematic issues for PICF treatment is the support available for those without a key care giver. "The guardian service for adults" system has been established, but is not functioning well at the present time. |
