The Dialysis Leading Nurse System provides certification recognized by all six Nursing Associations in Japan. This system was established by the Japan Academy of Nephrology Nursing in 2003 with the aim of increasing the quality and professional status of clinical nursing in the field of dialysis treatment. This system is used to recognize, individuals who have obtained qualifications, including receiving the title of Dialysis Leading Nurse (DLN). By 2012, there were 1,280 Dialysis Leading Nurses (approximately a third of the association's membership) in Japan, connected by an independently functioning nationwide network. The DLN system, served as a practical model for medical team. It also contributes to the development of medical team by providing valuable practical case studies for future investigations. Training of future DNLs at outpatient dialysis facilities (clinics), which are the main locations where dialysis treatment is conducted, remains an important goal. |
