【 要旨 】 腎不全医療を取り巻く環境が変化するなかで，医療チーム内における看護師の役割や存在意義が拡大するとともに，看護の専門性が求められてきた．腎不全看護領域における「キャリア開発」の一環として，「専門の資格制度」が開始となり，約10年が経過し，その活動や継続に向けてより一層の真価が問われる時期となった．加えて，専門分野に携わる看護師の姿として，その生活・仕事の両面において調和をはかり，継続していくことが後進たちに参考となるキャリアパスのもう一つの重要なポイントと考えられる．ここでは筆者自身の体験も交えながら，「腎不全看護におけるキャリアパス」，「ワークライフバランスの現状と課題」について述べる．
