【 要旨 】 高齢透析患者における心理・社会面を十分に踏まえた支援については，(1) 高齢透析患者に対しての基礎的知識および理解をもっておくこと，(2) 支援する高齢透析患者個人の情報を十分にもち整理できていること，(3) 前記の(1)・(2)を踏まえて具体的な支援方針を決定し支援していく．その際，ポイントとなる点が，高齢透析患者に対し常に敬意を払い，個々人の価値を理解し，患者が大事にしていることや大事にしていきたいと思っていることを，支援の要とすることである．

[ Summary ] The essence of socio-psychological support for elderly patients on HD may be divided into three categories ; (1) fundamental knowledge of and sympathy for elderly HD patients, (2) precise, organized information on those subjects, (3) deciding on tangible support plans for those patients based on (1) and (2). Additionally, when we make decisions concerning supportive plans it is important to express ongoing respect for elderly people, to understand their sense of values and to empathize with them.
