[ Summary ] |
Case reporting has a long history as a valuable medical implement, which has contributed to the advancement of medical knowledge. Evidence based medicine (EBM) has become popular in recent times. The use of case reporting is presently less often implemented as compared to techniques such as randomized trials. However, case reporting is still considered to be valuable in observing side effects of drugs, the discovery of new diseases and development of new treatment methods. Therefore, case reporting should be viewed as a modality, which may be used to complement EBM. |
