【 要旨 】 慢性透析患者の高齢化は増加の一途をたどり，毎年ほぼ直線的に増加している．また，慢性透析患者全体のうち57.1％が65歳以上であるため，透析医療のスタンダードは，まさに高齢者が対象となることであろう．高齢者は，一見元気そうに見えても種々の合併症を抱えていることが多く注意が必要である．われわれ臨床工学技士が，高齢透析患者に対してどのような点に気をつけて接していけばよいかを，透析条件の設定や透析装置の管理，透析液清浄化などに関して概説する．

[ Summary ] The aging of the chronic dialysis patient population has increased yearly. Targets for treatment of the elderly must be set, because 57.1 % of the chronic dialysis population is presently over 65 years old. Elderly patients may experience various complications even if they are asymptomatic. Therefore, close observation is required. Settings for dialysis treatment, including management of dialysis devices, use of ultra pure dialysates, and other treatment factors are discussed with particular emphasis on care for elderly patients.
