| [ Summary ] |
Treatments for chronic pain in dialysis patient are described including those for a vicious circle of pain：methods for classification of clinical pain are also discussed. It is important that pain treatment, begin as soon as possible. Early treatment is more effective in preventing the development of a 'vicious circle' of intractable chronic pain. If the vital signs of dialysis patients are normal, we are able to treat them with usual pain-relief methods. In the case of dialysis patients who have bleeding tendencies, nerve blocks should be avoided. Therefore, phototherapy is preferred because it does not tend to cause bleeding. Herbal medicines and opioids are also useful treatments for intractable chronic pain. In conclusion, dialysis patients who have chronic pain, should be treated for chronic pain as soon as possible. |
