【 要旨 】 腹膜透析は，高齢者には循環動態変化の少なさ，多量の透析液を必要としない，在宅でできるなど，これまでの生活習慣が著しく変化しないなどがメリットとされている．しかし，腹膜透析は在宅医療であり，腹膜透析管理技術の習得が必要である．技術習得には，高齢者のもてる力を信じて見守る指導が重要であり，施設のバックアップ体制を十分に理解してもらうことが，患者家族の不安の軽減につながる．また，患者の自立度の低下により配偶者，家族の支援が必要となり，社会資源の活用も必要である．導入時には社会資源をいかに活用するかを検討し，有効に活用することで患者家族の負担を軽減することができる．
Theme Nursing Practices for Elderly Dialysis Patients -- Report from Expert Nurses

[ Summary ] The number of home peritoneal dialysis (HPD) patients who are senior citizens has not increased greatly in Japan. This is in spite of the fact that this treatment has many merits, including the possibility of in-home treatment However, HPD systems need to be improved to make them more user friendly. To reduce anxiety on the part of these patients and their families, information concerning this treatment must be provided. Information on social programs to support HPD patients must also be provided. All of the above information may be employed to lighten the burdens experienced by these patients and their families.
