| [ Summary ] |
Approximately 127 patients are performing home hemodialysis (HHD) according to statistics provided by the JSDT. On March 16, 1998, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare implimented legislation for guidance and control of HHD treatment. It was determined that patients on HHD should not own instrumens for HHD, but should be lent equipment those from medical institutions. Therefore, medical technicians and makers of equipment must manage these resources. It is the duty of medical engineers to provide general support to patients on HHD, including establishment in the homes of individual patients, acting as manufacturer's representatives', and controlling expendable supplies. |
