| 【 要旨 】 | 高齢者の腹膜透析 (PD) における工夫としては，第一に高齢腎不全患者を包括的に管理することであり，保存期，透析導入期，維持透析期，そして終末期と，患者本位の医療，看護を試みることが大切である．そのためにはチーム医療が重要であり，長期に在宅医療を継続するためには介護保険制度を有効に活用することが不可欠と思われる．さらなる高齢社会に向けて，高齢者が安心して在宅医療であるPD療法を選べる支援システムが望まれる． | |

| [ Summary ] | Adequate pre-end stage renal disease (ESRD) information and an optimal environment are necessary to allow the patient to make a choice of dialysis modality. If appropriate information is obtained in a timely manner, most elderly patients with ESRD are capable of making an appropriate choice of treatment method. Along with the progress of peritoneal dialysis (PD) treatment, the elderly patients have an excellent outcome even with multiple comorbid conditions. PD is a treatment method that should be considered as the first choice in introducing dialysis treatment in elderly patients. The points to bear in mind in this regard are to believe in the function possessed by the elderly and to support their independence. The existing nursing care insurance (long-term care insurance) system has problems such as restriction on the function of nurses and helpers. As graying of the society advances, it is desired to establish a more secure system to support the elderly PD patients. |
