| [ Summary ] |
A report in “the Italian Registry of Dialysis and Transplantation” by the RIDT Committee was presented. The population of dialysis patients in Italy at the end of 2004 was 43,986 and the transplants performed was 15,198. The cumulative number of patients receiving renal replacement therapy on December 31 each year increased as in Japan. The cumulative number of patients having had CAPD or transplantation was greater than in Japan. Primary renal diseases and co-morbidity in these patients exhibited different distributions as compared to those seen in Japan. |
