【 要旨 】 中国および台湾の透析移植事情を，これまで発表された統計資料と日本でのデータとを比較しながら紹介した．台湾の透析事情は，患者数で日本と世界一を争うほどになっている．中国は広大な国土，膨大な人口と経済的格差を反映しているためか透析事情の地域差は大きい．しかし，発展を遂げている上海市などの沿海地方では，日本や台湾と同様に糖尿病や高齢患者の増加に伴う透析患者の急速な増加に苦慮している．移植事情に関しては，はっきりしたデータを示せなかったが，3国とも，スペインや米国などの移植事情の先進国とは比較にならないと考えられ，今後ともいっそうの努力が必要である．今後は慢性腎臓病 (CKD) の予防対策や移植事情の改善など，互いに協力し合って推進することが大切である．

[ Summary ] The current conditions related to dialysis, including renal transplantation in China, Taiwan and Japan are compared. According to published data from the United States Renal Data System, Taiwan showed the highest incidence of new dialysis patients due to end stage renal disease (ESRD) of any nation. There are distinct regional differences in conditions related to dialysis and financial problems, including the health insurance, especially in China. The major health problems are increases in the number of diabetes related and elderly patients. In the future, we would like to cooperate with health providers in China and Taiwan to prevent and treat chronic renal disease (CKD).
