[ Summary ] |
Recently, the number of elderly patients and diabetic patients starting hemodialysis has increased. The average age of long term hemodialysis patients has also increased. In these circumstances, cardiovascular complications account for over half of the total number of hemodialysis patient deaths. Changes in blood pressure and the occurrence of arrhythmia are influenced by the original ESRD condition, extracorporeal circulation, and decreases in circulating blood volume. To conduct hemodialysis sessions safely, it is necessary for various factors concerning hemodialysis to be observed. The most important factor for treatment is control of inter-dialytic body weight gains. To achieve this, medical staff members should patiently provide motivation to hemodialysis patients on a repeated basis. |
