[ Summary ] |
Active vitamin D deficiencies and hypersecretion of PTH are often observed in the early stages of chronic kidney disease (CKD), i.e. with a GFR of less than 60 ml/min. Recently the NKF proposed clinical practice guidelines for the management and treatment of bone disease with CKD. The guidelines are a bit different from those actually observed in Japanese patients, an example would be that ergocalciferol is not available in our country. A new concept concerning serum inhibitors for ectopic calcification has not been considered either. |
