【 要旨 】 透析による眼圧上昇は緑内障の有無にかかわらず起きるが，この眼圧上昇は通常一過性で軽度である．しかし，すでに視神経障害を有している緑内障患者では，残存している視神経の機能に余裕がないため，たとえ一過性で軽度な眼圧上昇であっても注意する必要がある．
私たちは緑内障患者に透析を行う際には，このことを常に念頭におき，透析による眼圧上昇を予防する工夫や眼圧上昇が起きたとしても，それが視神経に及ぼす影響を最小限に抑える対策などを講じなくてはならない．

[ Summary ] Intraocular pressure (IOP) may rise during hemodialysis in patients with or without glaucoma. This IOP elevation is usually transient and slight. However, for patients with advanced glaucoma, the IOP elevation may cause further damage to the optic nerve. We should modify hemodialysis procedures to prevent IOP elevation and minimize optic nerve damage in patients with glaucoma.
