Because the contribution of residual renal function (RRF) to total solute clearance is significant in peritoneal dialysis, loss of RRF over time can lead to inadequate dialysis. Combination therapy, using peritoneal dialysis and hemodialysis is an very useful method. This therapy allows the patient to manage appropriate body fluids and dialysis dose. Furthermore, we can achieve peritoneal rest by using this complementary dialysis therapy. This may lead to maintaining long term peritoneal functions. |
