【 要旨 】 血液透析に用いられる長期型バスキュラーカテーテルは，「循環動態に負荷が少ない」「穿刺ミスや穿刺痛がない」などの特長をもつ一方，「感染時のリスクが高い」といったデメリットも併せもつため，使用にあたっては十分な適応の検討と管理上の注意が必要である．とくにカテーテル内感染は長期型カテーテルの最大の問題であり，しばしば重篤化する合併症であることを常に念頭におくべきである．今後，長期型カテーテルの管理法がさらに改善され，またカテーテル自体の構造や材質が改良されれば，本法の適応の拡大や維持期間の延長が期待できると考えられる．

[ Summary ] Long term hemodialysis catheters have brought a great deal of benefits for chronic dialysis patients in terms of less hemodynamic loads and painless dialysis. Catheter infections and catheter site infection remain high risk issues, in which we need to improve the management of this kind tool.
