【 要旨 】 最近の血液浄化関連機器 (持続緩徐式血液浄化装置や血液浄化器) の開発とその臨床応用により，体重3kg以上の小児にも体外循環血液浄化療法 (血液透析を含む) が実施可能となってきた．しかし，小児は成人と比べて体格も小さいことから，血液透析を実施する場合にはプライミングボリューム，ブラッドアクセス，回路内凝固が問題となり，さらに，新生児・乳児の特徴的な体液構成，すなわち細胞外液量の多さから，体液量バランスには細心の注意が必要である．

[ Summary ] Recent advances in blood purification modalities have made it safe and effective to perform extracorporeal blood purification (ECBP) treatments for small children. When ECBP is used for small children, there are several concerns including priming volume, blood access, coagulation in the extracorporeal circuit and body water balance. In this review, practical issues which apply to ECBP for children were briefly summarized.
