【 要旨 】 インターネットの発展は双方向性，即時性の情報を必要なとき，いつでも，誰でも，どこでも配信でき，また受信することを可能とした．まさにこのことが，今までの医療に欠けていたことでもあった．このインターネットを使った腎臓病診療サイトである腎臓ネット (http://www.jinzou.net/) を2000年11月に開設した．その機能は多彩であるが，いくつかの従来不可能だったことが可能になった．その一つは，日本語を話す患者に的確なsecond opinionをいつでも，どこからでも提供することが可能となったことである．さらに，患者の掲示板により初めて患者同士での情報交換が可能になり，専門医の掲示板は学会研究会の場でなくても日常診療上の疑問を討論できるようになった．誰もが国際標準の治療法にアクセスすることができるようになってきた．このことは，すなわち医師に国際標準を知ることが義務づけられたのである．

This website has accomplished several tasks which were impossible in the traditional environment. Online medical consultation has enabled patients with kidney diseases to obtain the most updated second opinion from the most qualified specialist. BBS has provided a place for patients to share their experiences and difficulties in dealing with diseases. In the Internet age, anyone is able to access the global standards of medical therapeutics. In turn, every doctor is obligated to know the global standard.
