[ Summary ] |
Recently interventional treatment for hemodialysis shunt failure has begun to replace surgical reconstruction. Percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA) is available for most stenostic or non-thrombotic occluded hemodialysis shunts. The initial success rates PTA were reported to be 80~97%. Primary patency rates after PTA were reported to be 44~61% at 6 months and 23~44% at 12 months. PTA for hemodialysis shunt failure can achieve high-success rates, but the primary patency of this method is not sufficient. Therefore, most cases require repeated PTA. Repeated PTA can achieve high secondary patency rates. |
