There will be two kinds of certification systems for ESRD nursing in Japan. One is by the Japanese Nursing Association, and the other is by the Japan Academy of Nephrology Nursing. This article describes what things promote or obstruct these systems for certified expert nurse in this field, in Japan and overseas. The economic effects on medical care, related to the continued educational system for acquiring certification, and authorization in clinical settings are considered as factors which influence the expansion of this system. We also need to establish standards for clinical practice and core curriculums for nephrology nursing. |
