【 要旨 】 日本透析医学会の統計調査資料によれば,1998年末のわが国の男性透析患者の就労率は45.2%,女性透析患者の就労率は10.8%である.女性透析患者の60%は家事に従事している.60歳未満の男性透析患者の就労率は72.9%であるが,60歳以上では14.7%である.60歳未満の男性透析患者の就労率をおもな治療方法間で比較すると,在宅血液透析患者が91.1%ともっとも高く,次いでCAPD患者の就労率が82.4%であり,施設血液透析患者の就労率は72.3%であった.一方,わが国の透析患者の5.9%は日中の50%以上の時間を就床して過ごしており,3.9%は終日就床して過ごしている.

[ Summary ] According to statistical survey records of the Japanese Society for Dialysis Therapy, 45.2% of the male dialysis patients in Japan were employed as of 1998, against 10.8% of female dialysis patients. However, 60% of the female dialysis patients were engaged in housework. Some 72.9% of male dialysis patients under 60 years of age were employed at the time, while 14.7% of those over 60 had jobs. Of the employed males under 60 years of age, 91.1% were on home dialysis, the highest ratio, followed by 82.4% on CAPD, and 72.3% were undergoing dialysis at dialysis centers/facilities. In Japan, 5.9% of dialysis patients spent over 50% of their time in bed, and 3.9% were bedridden.
