[ Summary ] |
Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura(TTP), typical diarrhea-associated (D+) hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), and atypical D-HUS have common pathological findings characterized by thrombotic microan giopathy; however, theses disease manifest different clinical features and outcome. Moreover, recent works have given rationale of fresh frozen plasma (FFP) infusions and plasma exchange (PE) for treatment of patients with TTP and atypical D-HUS. By contrast, patients with D+HUS have been treated with FFP infusions and PE with no apparent benefit. In this paper, we briefly reviewed PE therapy for patients with TTP and HUS. |
