The results of a survey have illustrated how long term care insurance recipients (including certification of care need patients) utilize long term care insurance. The utilization rate for beds in 10 hemodialysis yusho clinics in hyogo prefecture was found to be 78%, 51% of which were chronic hemodialysis patients. Twenty nine % of the hemodialysis patients, who were recipients of long term care insurance, were certified as being in care service need (certification of care need). This corresponds to 2.3 times as high as the rate in total number elder person needing care. As to ambulatory transportation, 58% of the patients use cars, including institutional transportation service (52%) and taxi ticket service (23%). The two main sources of ambulatory assistance were their partners/families (37%) and institutional staff members (26%). The most frequently used services for long term care insurance were visiting care (44%) and visiting nursing (13%). The progress on the rate of certification of care need for chronic hemodialysis patients and that of utilization of long term insurance services are expected to increase in the near future. |
