【 要旨 】 透析医療における臨床工学技士の役割は，透析療法という血液浄化法・透析器の種類や透析条件などを患者ごとに，合併症やそのときの状態に応じてもっとも適正な種類と方法を選択し，それを行う装置の性能・機能・安全性を十分に考慮して，目的とする水分・溶質バランスの是正を効率よく適正に実施することである．また，それらに使用する装置や機器の操作と保守管理も重要な仕事である．その他，患者やスタッフの教育・指導や最近注目されている医療事故に対する臨床工学リスクマネージメントもその専門性から重要となる．透析チームにおける臨床工学技士の役割は，透析チームの中心的メンバーとして，複数の専門職と協力し，臨床工学的知識と技術を駆使して透析を行い，その適正さと安全性のクオリティを向上させることである．

[ Summary ] In dialysis care, clinical engineers should play a role in providing the most efficient and safe dialysis sessions personalized to each patient from the aspects of their physical and biochemical status, present illness and complications. To do so, They need to maintain a variety of machines in dialysis units. In addition, they should participate in the education of other staff members in the units, especially for risk management of accidents during dialysis sessions. As an authorized member of a team caring for dialysis patients, they must endeavor to improve the quality of each dialysis session and promote safety, in concert with the other members.
