[ Summary ] |
Hyperglycemia, hyperlipidemia, high blood pressure, and secondary hyperparathyroidism are common risk factors related to cardiovascular disease seen in chronic renal failure patients. For the CAPD patients, the degree of serious illness is considered to be increased further because of the presence of dialysis fluid. Arteriosclerosic changes, such as diffuse calcification of arterial walls and intimal atheroma are more severe, compared to those found in ordinary states. Coronary arteries often develop asymptomatic cardiac infarctions. In this review, we will describe the characteristics of CAPD patients and their management in respect to these risk factors and their personal opinions. |
