【 要旨 】 糖尿病性腎症による透析導入者数は1998年，慢性糸球体腎炎を原疾患とする導入者を抜き第1位となり，1999年全導入者の36.2％を占め，累積患者の約1／4に至っている．このような状況を踏まえ，透析療法に携わる看護婦は，透析看護の知識・技術だけでなく，糖尿病の理解，糖尿病患者の特性を十分に知ることが看護するうえで重要なポイントになる．そのためには，看護婦自身が糖尿病ケアに関心をもち，糖尿病患者の抱える身体的，精神的，社会的問題に取り組むため，知識・技術を磨くことが必須となる．ここでは糖尿病の合併症にポイントを置いて，糖尿病性腎不全患者の透析時の看護を述べたい．

[ Summary ] Since diabetic nephropathy has come to be the leading cause of initiation of dialysis in Japan, it is very important to make considerations for these patients. Nurses who treat diabetic dialysis patients should have knowledge and technical skills of both dialysis and diabetes mellitus. Blood glucose control, suppression of interdialytic weight gain, blood pressure control, both for hypertension and orthostatic hypotension, support for visual disturbances and prevention of foot lesions must be focused on nursing treatment for diabetic dialysis patients.
