In this thesis, the author describes nursing education in a nursing university, in view of the following, linking it to the training of expert nurses; 1) the image expected of nursing professionals and the philosophy associated with nursing education, 2) nursing education as a base of the professional nurse, 3) a curriculum which establishes the professionalism of nursing for patients with chronic renal failure, 4) expectations for continued education of nurses, who will expert professionals. First, the author describes that nursing education in undergraduate courses is used to establish a base of the nursing professional. Then the curriculum of the of Nursing, Faculty of Health Sciences, Okayama University Medical School is introduced to explain the role of nursing education, including nursing for patients with chronic renal failure. The author then stresses that great importance should be attached to nursing intervention in nursing education. Furthermore the author explains that it is necessary to continue nursing education in a clinical setting (hospitals or other medical locations) as nurses develop to become experts through their experience in nursing intervention. |
