The Japan Organ Transplant Network (JOTN) was established in October, 1997, as the only organization of organ sharing for transplantation in Japan, on the basis of information from of the Special Committee on brain death. JOTN consists of the national center in Tokyo, seven regional centers and one sub-center. Their task is the achievement of fair organ sharing by taking the primary responsibility for obtaining informed consent from donor families, selection of recipients from the national waiting list and transportation of donated organs. All the work of JOTN has been evaluated and verified in each organ donation is independent evaluation committee JOTN, as well as in the Ministry of Welfare in order to maintain the fairness and equality of JOTN. Therefore public comprehension of and cooperation with organ transplantation has been aroused through these procedures. |
