[ Summary ] |
Recently plasmapheresis (PP) has been used for treatment of collagen related disease. Since 1980, PP has mainly been used for treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). When conducting PP, autoantibodies and immune complex components are removed. The indications for use of plasmapheresis are as follows (1) those which are resistent to some medications, (2) those which have a high quantity of antibodies or immune complex components, (3) those for which medication must be decreased or stopped because of side effects or complications, or (4) those which are in the acute active phase. We suggest DFPP may be useful as a treatment for collagen related disease. |
