The "Law of Organ Transplantation" will be enacted on October 16,1997 and the "Japan Organ Transplant Network" will then begin its functions. This law was processed according to the concept developed by the special committee on brain death and organ transplantation.The committee strongly commented on the Japanese situation in which people used to go abroad to get heart and liver transplants, emphasizing the necessity of accepting a foreign patient into the Japanese transplantation network. Here in, the data from questionaires to foreign networks on international organ sharing show that disciplined international organ sharing including kidneys should be carried out by an official organ transplantation network. |
