[ Summary ] We assessed magnifying endoscopic findings for the diagnosis of the depth of submucosal invasion, deeper than 1,000 μm and sm2・3 (Kudo's classification) in early colorectal carcinoma. The type V pit pattern, as seen with magnifying colonoscopic examination, proved to be useful in diagnosing early colorectal carcinoma. A VN pit pattern was also a useful indicator for both submucosal invaion deeper than 1,000 μm and sm2・3 in all macroscopic types.
