| [ Summary ] | The clinical usefulness of an EMR method, using an oblique transparent cylinder and a 10% glycerol solution was described. Generally, EMR for colonic lesions has been performed with single-channel endoscopes. The colonic lumen is more controllable in its anatomic features than is the upper gastrointestinal tract. However, lesions on the semi-lunar folds are still difficult to resect, even for expert colonoscopists. Grasping the contours of tumors or sufficient local injections are difficult in cases with very large tumors. Observing the front view of the tumor has become quite easy by pushing the near edge of the tumor with an oblique transparent cylinder. Grasping the contours of large tumors and sufficient circumferential local injections have also become easy by pushing the lesion using the side wall of the cylinder. The long lasting mucosal elevation made by use of local injections of a 10% glycerol solution help in the snaring of lesions. The EMR method, using an oblique transparent cylinder and a 10% glycerol solution, is a novel procedure for removal of colonic tumors, with quite satisfactory clinical outcomes. |
