We performed total colonoscopies in 117 cases with the CF-Q240AI endoscope and 81 cases with the CF-Q240I endoscope. Their fundamental functions are exactly the same, however a special additional function of the CF-Q240AI is that, the stiffness of the shaft can be adjusted by rotating a ring. There were almost no differences between these two scopes in insertion performance, such as the insertion ratio and time at the cecum, complaints of pain, or complications. By using the CF-Q240AI, colonoscopists could adjust the stiffness of the shaft before insertion or any time during insertion, according to their insertion style or the condition of the patient. We think that the CF-Q240AI should be considered to be the standard colonoscope, at this time. |
