[ Summary ] |
Endocytoscopy is a new generation ultra-magnifying endoscopy that enables in vivo cellular observation at 520x magnification. Endocytoscopy has two modes: the first one is endocytoscopy with narrow-band imaging which emphasizes the microvessels, and the second one is chromoendoscopy with methylene-blue that can visualize cell nuclei. Endocytoscopy has extremely high accuracy for lesion characterization; however, its maneuverability is relatively different from that of conventional magnifying endoscopy. Thus, acquiring the skills of endocytoscopy requires substantial training. In this article, we will introduce the know-how of the endocytoscopy and tips for obtaining high-quality images. |
