[ Summary ] |
Malignant oncologic behavior of a preceding endoscopic resection (ER) prior to additional surgery for T1 colorectal carcinoma (CRC) has been controversial. We analyzed the influence of preceding ER based on the prognosis of patients with T1 CRC after additional surgery using propensity scorematching in our institution. Our data suggested that preceding ER for patients with T1 CRC did not affect their prognosis adversely after additional surgery. It is expected that ER as an excisional biopsy for T1 CRC will expand in the future, however this application is under clinical research and currently it should be done with caution. |
