[ Summary ] |
Pediatric IBD patients exhibit many characteristics, including remarkable genetic factors at onset as compared to adults. The possibility of immunodeficiency, in many cases severe and early onset, may readily lead to growth disturbances, and psychosocial complications. Because of these factors, we should select the most suitable treatments for pediatric IBD patients, especially when growth disturbances are a factor. Suppression of infl ammation, restriction of steroid use, and eff ective elemental diets are necessary for the prevention of growth disturbances in pediatric IBD patients. |
