【 要旨 】 interval cancerの原因として，（1）見逃し癌，（2）不完全な検査および不適切なサーベイランス間隔，（3）内視鏡治療後の遺残再発，（4）急速発育癌の四つが挙げられる．それを防ぐためには原因に応じて，（1）内視鏡のQuality改善，（2）挿入困難例に対する対応，前処置改善，患者教育や呼び出し方法の確立，（3）分割切除/断端陽性例に対する検査間隔短縮，（4）高リスク群の抽出と適切なサーベイランス間隔の設定などの対策が必要である．

[ Summary ] Potential etiological factors regarding interval colorectal cancers indicate they are missed cancers, due to inadequate examinations/surveillance, incomplete endoscopic resection. Rapid developing cancers may also be in this category. Required preventive methods to combat interval colorectal cancers are important treating for missed cancers as well. Special endoscopes, such as balloon-endoscopes/thin diameter colonoscopes or colon cleansing improvements are necessary for adequate examinations. Education and accurate recognition systems are necessary for adequate surveillance. Shortening surveillance intervals post incomplete resection, and extraction of high risk group and adequate surveillance interval for detecting rapidly developing cancers.
