As depressed type early colorectal cancer (IIc) is commonly detected in Japan, imitations such as IIa+(pseudo-)depression (IIa+dep) are also increasing. IIa+dep is not a fatal lesion like IIc. Thus, it is very important to distinguish IIa+dep from IIc. IIa+dep does not have a boundary depression, as does IIc. IIc has a IIIs type (small roundish pits) pit pattern on the surface. On the other hand, IIa+dep has IIIL type (large roundish pits) pit pattern. Thus, magnifying endoscopy is very useful for distinguishing IIa+dep from IIc. |
