[ Summary ] |
Ischemic enteritis is defined as intestinal tissue injury due to perfusion failure. It is divided into two categories, idiopathic and secondary. Ischemic enteritis different from ischemic colitis and is a rare disease. Diagnostic opportunities for this condition are increasing because types of enteroscopy such as small bowel capsule endoscopy and balloon assisted endoscopy are now widely used. Ischemic enteritis has three subtypes which are the transient type, the stenotic type and the necrotic type, as classified by disease characteristics. The stenotic type is more frequent, with the primary therapy being surgical intervention. Recentely, endoscopic balloon dilation therapy has been performed. |
