[ Summary ] |
A man in his sixties had been pointed out sessile PG type polyp in the sigmoid colon 3 mm in diameter in February 2005 and in February 2007. Due to the patient's personal circumstances, he had not been followed-up after the second observation. He had a colonoscopy for the examination of the cause of his left lower abdominal pain in June 2012 (7 years and 4 months after the first observation). Standard colonoscopy exhibited a NPG type 0-IIa + IIc submucosal invasive carcinoma 15 mm in diameter in the sigmoid colon. This was the same region where a 3 mm 0-Ⅰs polyp was detected 7 years previously. A laparoscopic assisted colectomy was performed. Histologic findings of the resected specimen revealed a NPG type moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma with deep submucosal invasion (2,600μm). This case is very interesting in terms of the morphological progression of colorectal cancer. |
