【 要旨 】 潰瘍性大腸炎（UC）は腸内細菌の豊富な下部消化管に発生し，その発症・進展に腸内フローラが重要な役割をもつことが明らかにされている．近年，腸内フローラを標的とした薬剤・食品素材がUCの治療法として注目を集めるようになり，すでに実臨床での有用性が確認されたものもある．本稿では，プロバイオティクス，プレバイオティクス，および抗菌薬を用いたUC 治療の現状について概説する．

[ Summary ] Gut microflora contribute to the pathogenesis of ulcerative colitis (UC). This review summarizes current clinical knowledge concerning the role of gut microflora in UC and their importance as targets for new forms of therapy. The results of clinical trials with the use of agents targeting microflora, including probiotics, prebiotics and antibiotics, are briefly described. In conclusion, altering the composition of the microflora may improve clinical outcomes for patients with UC.
