[ Summary ] |
The clinicopathological features of small (2 cm in diameter or less) advanced colorectal cancer are very rarely seen and have not been clarified. However, several characteristics have been suggested. In this study we reported no significant differences in malignancy in terms of characteristics such as metastasis, recurrence of small tumors or normal-sized (2 cm or more in diameter) tumors. Furthermore, we sometimes experience recurrence of small tumors with lymph node metastasis or deep invasion such as T3 or T4. In conclusion, we recommend that oncological surgeons should deal with small advanced tumors as they do normal-sized advanced tumors without considering limited surgery. |
