[ Summary ] |
The number of surgical treatments for colorectal villous tumors has recently been reduced. Because endoscopic treatment has become popular, most villous tumors are removed by use of endoscopic techniques. Colorectal villous tumors are relatively large and involved forms of cancer in many cases. Advanced cancers associated with villous tumors are rare. However, local resection is recommended for villous tumors not suitable for endoscopic removal. After pathological diagnosis by removal of specimens is confirmed, surgical resection with lymph node dissection may be performed. All efforts must be made to refrain from over surgery for villous tumors. |
