[ Summary ] |
Total proctocolectomy is the standard treatment for patients with ulcerative colitis (UC), dysplasia or colitic cancer. Ileal pouch anal anastomosis (IPAA) has become the gold standard procedure for most patients after total proctocolectomy. IPAA was performed safely and provided good bowel function and quality of life in spite of surgical complications such as pouchitis. Surveillance of cancer recurrence is important for patients, especially post surgery patients with advanced cancer. |
