[ Summary ] |
Recent advancements in PET with high-performance CT enable us to obtain fusion images of hypermetabolic tumors, using high-quality 3 dimensional CT imaging. PET-CT colonography is a type of image which requires special image processing procedures. The merits of these images are reduced imaging problems due to pseudotumors, generalized spasm, or stools as seen with conventional CT colonography. Consequently, PET-CT colonography may be favorable for patients for whom we cannot achieve adequate cleansing of the colon due to tumor obstructions, poor performance status, etc. A new method of image processing, including PET-CT angiography and PET-CT laparoscopy are introduced. These images can provide information on both tumor localization and vasculature, which is valuable to surgeons. |
