[ Summary ] A search was conducted for cases with type VI pit patterns in relation to the histology of cellular and structural atypism. Evaluation of structural atypism was performed using the disorder degree (grade 0 to 4) explained below. The cases where complex tubular structures were observed only in the bottom were determined to be grade 1 (g1), those where they were observed on the surface as g2, those where they had replaced the surface as g3 and those where the tubular structure had disappeared into the surface as g4. Cases with g2 having complex tubular structures hear the surface and affecting the surface pits had a high frequency for remaining in shallow invasion of the submucosal layer (SM). On the other hand, g3 cases in which complex tubular structures replace the surface have a high probability of massive SM invasion. The results were considered to provide useful information in order to unify the diagnostic criteria for subtype VI pit patterns.
